Anyone been in touch with Billy at Dongguan Desheng recently?

I ordered a couple of motors and some other accessories from Billy about a month ago but not heard anything since. I've emailed a few times over the last couple of weeks asking for an update but not had any response.

Has anyone been in contact with him recently? I wonder if my emails to him or his to me might be getting blocked somewhere, or perhaps he's away on holiday. Alternatively he may just be too busy right now to deal with the little guy. Maybe I'm just being too impatient, but I'm surprised there's been no reply at all.

I guess it's also possible the company's gone under or they've chosen to take the money & run - but all indications from others who've bought motors from them seem to indicate they are sound - so I'd like to think this is not the case.

I seem to recall things going quiet for a few weeks and I eventually got a tracking number, so I could follow its route to the UK.

They do come recommended from Frank (a German supplier who moved to China) and he vouched for them before even when I had expressed some doubt.

I know of another person who successfully recieved their order from them.

Hang in there :)

Jerry

Thanks Jerry - I'll keep hanging!

I wasn't really doubting the integrity of the guys as it seems quite a few people have ordered motors with success.

I just find it odd that all emails asking for an update have been met with total radio silence so I just wondered if those emails are going astray or they're on their summer holidays or anything else. If this is normal though I'll leave it another couple of weeks before asking again.

Still no motors and no replies to any of my emails. It's now 7 weeks since I transferred the money.

Could someone do me a favour and drop Billy an email regarding any subject just to see if you get a response? I'm still hoping there's some issue with communication but it would be good to establish whether Dongguan Desheng is still operating first.

To anyone else thinking of ordering motors/controllers etc from Dongguan Desheng, based on my experience so far, I would urge some caution.

Hi Pedalo,

I am currently in China, only 30 miles away from Dongguan Desheng. Unfortunately I leave on Saturday and dont have time to pop round to check the place out.
However, if you pm me some details, i.e your name, order no etc, I will ring and try and chase for you. My call to him will come up as an internal number. If this fails, I will ask a Chinese friend of mine to check the place out.

Pedalo,

Funny enough I was thinking about this on the way to work this monring and wondered if you had received the motor :(

I definately had a tracking number after a couple of weeks. I really hope this works out. Intially it seemed a very good source for Tonxgin motors.

I think Frank (the guy located in Germany that moved to China) recommended them to the German forum. Not sure if he may be able to contact Billy as well ?

PS I just checked some of my email exchanges with Billy and I did have a problem initially where his emails were going into my junk folder.

Regards

Jerry

Frank is now out of e-bikes having sold the website on to "e-bike solutions", just as I was enquiring.

IOM managed to speak to Billy earlier today so I now know at least the company is still operating and Billy said he'd get back to me.

I'm still hoping for a positive outcome. I'll post here either way.

Good news Pedalo :)

Re Franks old site now being taken over by e-bike-solutions that was a surprise that he got out the business.

On a plus note the e-bike-solutions site has come on quite a bit since I last looked at it and has some nice options including smaller batteries which look like they are based round A123 cells.

Just to let you know I did finally get the parts I ordered and everything seems present and correct. :)

Thanks to IOM and JerrySimon who helped by pestering Billy on my behalf when I was getting no replies.

To anyone thinking of ordering, just know that it might take a lot of waiting. (A full 12 weeks in my case). It may be that Billy is struggling to get hold of these motors himself.

In hindsight, ordering from the electric wheel company would have been much easier!

Glad it all worked out.

It is a gamble ordering direct from China (even the suppliers in the UK find it stressfull I think). It can seem a bit hit and miss sometimes.

Its good to know that Billy came through though :p

I'm still toying with the idea of buying some Tongxin motors to play with but it does seem like quite a hoopla to get them this way. Every month I hope there will be a better/cheaper way but these motors have been around for a couple of years now and it doesn't seem to be getting any easier.

Maybe next month....
