Auction of a Bosch-powered Scott ebike

One of these came up recently from a bike shop on ebay. With this one, I have no idea who the seller is but for anyone who might be interested in a Bosch-system mounted on to a fairly good set of components, it might be worth keeping an eye on this over the next 4 days.

Looks too good to be true. He has at least one negative feedback as a 'rogue trader'.

It won't go for that price PJM? It has almost 5 days to run.
He has one negative feedback, not 'at least', hence 99% feedback on 97 transactions.
There may be a valid reason for the negative, who knows! Since ebay changed it's policy on negatives to buyers, buyers can now put what they want with impunity and often do for slightest reason.
This seller sells many expensive items from what i can see, the vast majority of buyers seem very happy.

Dear Biged, I am quite sure it will go for more than the current price. The last identical bike went for nearly £900.00 I recall. Still no feedback on that one as I understand it. I am quite happy to give it a miss. I have looked at a few feedback comments over the years and have never seen one as strong as 'Rogue Trader'. For the sake of any person parting with their hard earned money I hope it goes cheaply and arrives in perfect condition, as advertised, in record time. If by any chance you are the seller and would allow cash on collection I may well be your man. As to ebay I would still err on the side of caution but each to his own.

I agree. I'm not sure that the seller has the same ebay ID as that used by the seller of the same bike a couple of weeks ago however they appear to be one and the same person. The giveaway is that both sellers specialise in high priced fishing reels and tents.

The address of the business is given as 169 William Boney London. This is the address of a flat in a tenement block within the William Boney Estate.

Anyone know anything about he area?

Appears very dodgy.

PJM, it was nothing personal. With your comment 'looks too good to be true' i could only assume you meant the price, which i pointed out had 5 days to run.
New bikes or at least new condition bikes are often sold by dealers on ebay, a few that advertise on here inc 50cycles.
Ebay seems to be a bit like Marmite, loved or hated, i can understand both points of view. Personally i'm in the love camp, sold a couple of things but purchased many hundreds. Buyers should always remember there is a thing on ebay called buyer protection and it's very effective.
'Rogue Trader' is quite mild to some of the things i have seen posted, usually on really cheap items, often spoiling a sellers 100% feedback.
I notice that the buyer who put 'Rogue Trader' only had a feedback of 6, which few sellers would be happy with and is now no longer registered as a user....axe to grind maybe!

Similarly for the Kalkhoff Valencia which sold recently. Still no feedback....hmmmmm

One further thought re' the Scott. I'm not sure I would want to purchase from anyone who gives their business address as a flat in a tenement block anywhere.

The last Scott ebike sold on ebay a couple of weeks back was sold by "hand_made_design" and went for £850.

That bike was listed as S in terms of size whereas the one currently for sale is designated as L.

The method of description differs but it is possible that the seller is the same person. The method of payment only refers to Paypal although I suppose it is possible another method, such as cash on satisfactory inspection might be possible through negotiation. Both Paypal and ebay deal pretty well with buyer complaints these days so I doubt there's anything to worry about with this auction.

Having said all that, I must confess to feeling a little uneasy about this one so I'd advise anyone having qualms about bidding on this bike to keep their money safe and buy from a reputable outlet with premises.

Indalo.......if that's frightened you all off, I'll try and get it for £150.00!

I will not go into my background or current occupation save to say I have a bit of a nose for this type of thing. I can say from information in the public domain that at 169 William Bonney Estate SW4 7JE there is currently no person on the voters register since 2009. The user name on ebay would appear to me to be of Lithuanian origin and I note the purchase of a russian audio item. In my opinion I would even keep hold of the £150. But what do I know. As I said before perhaps I am just a nasty old cynic. As to ebay itself I use it regularly and in many years have managed to come out unscathed.

With less than a day to go, the bike is now over the £1000 mark, still a bargain at that sort of money if it's a genuine auction. Lots of bidders makes me think that at least one of those has to be a site member here.
