Availability of 2010 ebikes

I've always assumed the reason why ebike manufacturers use brake levers by the likes of Tektro, Wuxing and Promax, was that they produce units with the integrated cut out switches required for use on pedelecs. Unless there's adoption of cable mounted (in-line) pressure switches or magnetic reed switches, then the choice of lever will be limited.

However Shimano have now decided to put a toe into the EB market and we look forward to sampling their wares.

I would imagine they will not be targeting high end models immediately and would expect to see the lower end "Tournay" style to start of with. Shimano will eventually, like Tektro offer a full range of products enabling all electric bike manufacturers to buy their products.

Moving on from the blatant abuse and lack of respect for Wisper bikes, I personally think they have done a very good job in producing a quality ebike, and have enjoyed watching them evolve quite nicely.

Hi Alex, thanks for giving me the opportunity to promote our bikes again!

I probably should not rise to your bait but feel I should make a final effort to convince you our bike are actually very good.

I will certainly restrict my comments on any further attacks you make against me and or my product.

Mussels has one of the older bikes I was talking about, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Tektro components indeed in my opinion (after several visits to their factory and others) they make a superb range of components from the less expensive to absolutely superb models. If you too had had the opportunity to test their range and the ranges of others I am certain you would not be making such comments.

There is nothing wrong with the brakes on Andrew's bike, it's just the pads that wear quickly. We have changed the pads now for a harder compound recently. I originally chose the pads in Andrew's bikes because of their high performance. However although they are superb at stopping the bike they are made of a slightly softer compound and therefore wear more quickly.

It is obvious that you have a real downer on Wisper bikes and I am sorry about that. I am also not so stupid as to believe that everyone will love my bikes, hwever using words like "Crap" hint to me you may be working for a competitor, I can't think of any other reason you would be quite so offensive.

David there is nothing against you or your bikes. maybe its my character how i express myself and there is nothing wrong in the word ''crap'' which I'm sure you also use. My point mate is that you have sticked to certain brands that belive me aint of the best Q and never will be.

I wish you go for Shimano one day or Avid brakes. Honestly I feel you should give them a try and see the difference how they work. it's just like you encourage people to try your bikes and see how they are like comparing to the cheap Chinese bikes, I really do encourage you to try Avid BB7. You will then see the real difference between them soon you try.

And please don't tell me that Tektro is making a quality products. They did improve but they don't deserve to be on the bikes with £1500 price tag.

One more, believe me I'm far from being a competitor but maybe who know what I'll be doing in 5 years time

The problem is that we need brakes with an electronic cut out to be legal in Europe. Tektro so far are the best we have tried. Rest assured we will be trying out the Shimano range as soon as they are available.

This is really aimed at David as I was wondering if the XC was going to appear this week at all? I have a day off tomorrow and want to rule it in/out (I could be tempted!) - will there be one be anywhere soon - I could travel a bit? Our cycle to work scheme closes on the 26th March which is fast approaching.

I spoke to 50 Cycles and their new range (the Sahel) has just been shipped and they will have the large 55cm in stock (bit large for me). I could be tempted by that as a low maintenance commuting bike.

The BB7 is a good cable brake but hydraulic brakes should but not allways be better.

i've just tried combining 8inch rotors with my avid cable discs. they make an enormous difference with (heavier) electric bikes. you can run this combination with most makes of levers i think

Thanks David, looks like you and 50 cycles are shipping new ranges at the same time and suffering the same frustrating delays (well frustrating to me anyway). It looks like I might have to risk applying for a cycle to work voucher without have a suitable bike to buy then.
