Well I resisted temptation and did not go for the E Motion Panasonic powered folder on ebay....Have mentioned this AVE X Speed bike before. interested in what you think.

The wife I am sure would like it as easy to mount and manovere.... XT gears, disc brakes, big Apple tyres and you can easily get it in car/camper plus it is 20kg. only problem is price @ 2999 euro:( I dont mind paying 2k for a bike but near 3k? me no likey!;)
so what is the opinion

For 2K, why not just a nano-brompton? It can easily be on a car and rides well.

Thanks but just got rid of a KTM Bosch powered bike as it did not suit the wife, and really want another crank drive...I have a lovely hub drive bike already...

That's an awful lot of money for a Bosch powered small bike. A pity this AVE model isn't powered by the new Pacific cycles crank drive like their other one, very compact and neater, and likely to be less expensive.

I think they abandoned that drive when Bosch came out....

I think the other way round, the Pacific crank unit newer than the Bosch. AVE might have just been sounding out the European response to the Pacific unit at Eurobike though.

The report on AVE with pacific drive that I have seen was from 2009 German show...The Bosch powered X Speed is this years model and for 2012.

This is becoming confusing as EBCO are actually distributing some AVE Bosch bikes and 2 were at NEC. No sign of X Speed though...

EBCO to debut two new brands at the Cycle Show | Bicycle Business | BikeBiz

There is a similar style small framed Flyer, the Swiss Flyer i:SY. ECO model with nexus gears for about euro 1999 but ligtweight XT version 2.899 similar spec and price to X Speed

You're right Eddie, the whole scene is getting very confusing with so many companies joining in with so many variants on drives.

For the newcomer it's a nightmare.

The bike itself does not look anything special. depending on the equipment, £300-500 for the bike alone seems reasonable. So, they want £2,500 for the electrics.

I did see the 2 Bosch powered AVE models on the EBCO stand today, from recollection, the cheaper of the 2 was priced under £1900 which I believe would make it the cheapest Bosch powered bike available in the UK.
