In the process of fixing my bafang BBS02 I have accidentally snapped the wire that leads to the headlight. It has never worked and I don't particularly want it on the bike so can I just insulate the ends and leave it? Will this cause any issues going forward.

Thanks

You can just insulate the ends as long as you're careful not to let the wires touch. Normally, the lights would be fitted to a connector on the harness, so you just follow the wire to the connector and unplug it. A better way to install lights is to wire them directly to the battery via a fuse and switch, in which case you follow the wiring to wherever it goes and disconnect it there. It comes down to how yours is wired. Who installed your kit?

Because I'm hydrophobic to the extreme (I've never bathed), I covered those wire ends with self-adhesive marine heat shrink plus self-amalgamating tape.
