I was looking around for a bag after Li Ping suggested the sizes of the 36v 20amp batteries he could supply and i came across this company that pretty much sells exactly what i want. A giant bag that fits in the frame or worst case a custom bag. That way it can hold my batteries and controller.

It doesn't have prices but my bike is regular size and i may be able to get something that fits around the motor.

I hope this hasn't been posted before.

I saw a price of 125-175USD for a full size frame bag on the bottom of that page. I think shipping is 35USD. They look like quality but it's quite expensive I think. You'd probably still need to secure it somehow as well to stop it bouncing around too much. They seem to be offering a kind of custom bag, I'm sure you could pick up something a bit cheaper. If you haven't already looked on Endless Sphere, lots of people on there have similar setups and that might give you a few ideas.

There are some interesting battery box builds on ES and when I have a little time I'm going to put together something that can be mounted within the frame, but maybe with a fibre glass or aluminium case with brackets to securely mount it to the frame.

Batteries within the centre of the bike are a better solution than having all that weight out the back over the rear wheel IMO.

Thats what i think.
I can get these standard dimenions for the batteries i want.
210*180*140mm
345*140*110mm
345*70*210mm

I was looking at the skinniest one, and that can sit in the frame. Not too sure about motor clearance however so i need to measure it first.
I was tempted to make myself a bag, i reckon i could use a postie bag and just make it a bit more rigid and attach some velcro to mount it.

going to just stick a rack on the bike with panniers.
This is going to be the far cheapest option at £30 second hand including the rack.

What do you think about having the weight evenly distributed? its only 7.5KG's we are talking about, not 15.
Do you think its worth it?

Yes, having been through the same with mine (both SLAs and now the Lipos) place it in the rack back....avoid the panniers as they move about and the battery will take a bit of a pounding!

The weight in the pannier is better than on the rack for handling. Having it on one side is not much of a problem. Make sure it is secure or well padded to stop it being thrown about.

i will make sure its secured to the bike as well as possible.
The bags i have been offered are pretty well padded and waterproof, so hopefully they will ne ok.

Worst case i will pick up something that attaches to a seatpost.
