ive bought the other one with the rack in the picture not advertised on ebay, the seller just doesnt know much about ebikes, and might give more info by telephone, ill let members know if ive made the right decision when it arrives its on its way. if its as described 2008/9 off road switch battery maintained ive got a bargain (less than bidder will pay}, and ill see if the Wisper is as good as many of the members say it is. If not then its the doghouse,
Remember to register it with Wisper for the warranty although they expect the retailer to change the faulty part over so you may be doing that yourself.

Paypal protection.....joke of the year !!!!!!

did you know that if you buy something off someone and use paypal and they for example dont send you item,or item is duff or item is wrong one.. if the seller has NO MONEY in their account,Paypal CANNOT get you a refund.. we had first hand experience so we know, and yet Paypal still bombard everyone with the "safe" and "protected" words....
I made a purchase on eBay and paid via PayPal and Barclaycard. When the deal turned out to be dodgy, I approached eBay and PayPal about it, both of whom washed their hands of liability, so then I asked Barclaycard. They initially also denied liability, but when I reminded them of their obligations (in a letter (it is amazing how often a letter seems to carry more clout than an email), they agreed to look into it, and I subsequently received a full refund from PayPal. It looks as if BC leaned on PP to get the result.

well it has gone for £850! I am sure the chap would have taken £500'ish each for the pair.

I just hope the battery is OK...tears before bedtime otherwise:rolleyes: but he new absolutely nothing about the batteries and is probably repeating parrot fashion what he learnt from our conversation. I said bike worthless unless batteries maintained........Just get the serial numbers and check with Wisper. this could have been done before purchasing though

regards the consumer credit card act 1974. here is a template letter to send to your credit card provider if anything you purchase is faulty etc....

Consumer Direct - 1 Consumer Credit Act 1974 - Template letter for use when Goods and Services have been bought on credit

They have changed the way ebay works - I think to stop this from happening. If you buy something with paypal the buyer will only get the money once the seller has provided positive feedback. So obviously assess the item very carefully before giving feedback.

i think that only applies to new sellers,as i get paid immediatly when i sell something as have been a member a few years with high feedback, but i know someone who for their first few sales (this month) didnt get their money from Paypal till feedback was given, which sounds good except about 10% of the people who buy from me dont bother to give feedback even though they get their goods the very next day with good communication also...SOME PEOPLE !!! haha

I spoke to Doug Gosling about the Wispers, hes the one who kept them unused from new and the seller should have mentioned that, so thats why i took the risk of buying.

The plot thickens....:D

I did wonder if there was some connection, what with New Milton and Sway being in the same area...sounds like a perfectly innocent sell off of old stock to me.

What will be interesting to hear, for the rest of us Wisperers, is how the battery has fared, being probably c.2 years old, hopefully Tonio will post us an update?

Ebikes on Ebay

Yes Eddie they could well be, they have the old battery which we have not been using for well over a year now. At that time our Warranty was only 1 year on batteries but if there is a problem with either of the bikes we would try to help.

I am delighted to see the second hand value of our bikes holding up so well, I spoke to a chap last week who has just upgraded to a new Wisper, he bought his first Wisper three years ago and has just sold it for exactly the same price he paid for it! Of course the pound has weakened since then but he was delighted.

All the best

I was reflecting on this comment and the Cyclamatic thread... and feel this is what the result can be after building a brand....it's all about strong residuals, recognized & well respected name, good specification and reliable product underpinned by good backup and extensive dealer network. Wisper have achieved this and should be congratulated as I know how difficult it is to do and also how easy it is to have it all come tumbling down! Well done Wisper!

so far so good

The battery is fine, i only conditioned it once as not knowing a lot about conditioning an older unused battery i was afraid i might kill it, but i checked with David at Wisper and once was ok. have run the bike over 30 miles on derestrict and still had two lights. The sprung Wisper saddle played major havoc with my bad back but changed it to the old 2 spring one id been using on my Torq and such a difference! The bike is very comfortable and i find it safer to ride as i can now turn fully and look round while in the saddle as when riding the Torq 1 i had difficulty in doing so and could never get used to the cycle mirror.
Not as quick as the Torq 1 of course but i can live with that. After checking David tells me its one of the last bikes before they changed to the new model and just over a year old.The 905s.e is great looking bike, powerful enough and with a good range. Battery upstanding im happy with the buy.
