BMS battery do a 10ah 36v lithium battery. It's in shrink wrap, and can be got for £150 delivered.

I installed one in friends bike, and it really neat and compact - 150x150x70 mm.

I'm thinking about slinging one under the saddle, in a saddlebags for another project. Anyone done this before?

I ran my trike with the battery in a bag on top of the rear rack, my chopper bike with a battery in the saddle bag and my Tonaro when running off the spare battery it is in the rear panniers.
No problem with any of them, the size and weight allows so many options compared to SLA.
If in the panniers some protection is recommended in case you drop the bike or hit the panniers on a bollard or rock etc.

I fitted a 48v 10ah battery in a pannier bag on one of my ebikes.

Although it was in a bottle carrier, the full suspension frame on my Giant Trance 4 didn't have enough space to fit the bracket.

I made up a very lightweight wooden backing plate and mounted the battery carrier and the BMS S12S controller and wattmeter inside the bag instead, concealing it from view and also still being able to lock it onto the bike. (The backing plate in the pannier has an additional long bolt through the back to the rack stay.)

Although the weight is off-centre, it's much lower down than being on top of the rack, so has no noticeable effect on balance.

Thanks all, but I'm specifically talking about a saddlebag, the sort of thing that hangs down below the saddle, normally contains a puncture repair kit.

That was what I used on the chopper mentioned above, I also used a larger style bike one suspended from the seat of my trike with 2x 22.2v 5a Lipos battery in it, no issues as long as the batteries fit :), most of the seat bags are very strong with good mounting bits.
Sorry I don't have many "normal" bikes.
