My 500w battery by Yamaha is fine as I look after it between charges and only recharge just before a ride to 100%.

When it comes to replacement I definitely will not be paying the £650-£800 quoted to me for a Yamaha in tube battery, when I briefly thought of purchasing another for extended rides.
The way to go is re cell the battery but which cells are the best/top quality/low grade makes?

someone here is bound to know and if they have re cell’d their own/others?

Best cell/s depends on usage. Does one want high current for discharge or max capacity for range, there are many variables to consider.
For overall value Sam 29E is one of the top cells though best suited to larger batteries with many cells in parallel.
10A cells LG M29 are good for low/med power and price is good.
For a 10a cell LG MJI or the M36 (though seems to be rated 5a equally matches it's stable mate). M29 is good for a lower priced cell.
For 20a LG HG2 or any Sony VTC 5/6 cell.

Panasonic initially good but cycle life is no where near as good as other leading cells.
LG MG1 steer clear of.
Low powererd Sam cells of 5a rating are very mediocre.
Best low power cell for capacity Sam 35E needs to be kept at 1c max draw of 3.5a.

Future cells like 21700 size Sam 50E 9.9a rated is showing good form.
