Battery charging problem

My Bosch battery and charger are having connection issues.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to get a steady connection. For some reason it's charging fine if I leave the battery on the bike and charge it through the points on the bike frame. But this is very impractical for where I live.

So the charger and battery work, but they don't seem to like working together.

Anyhow.. Should this issue be covered by the Bosch warranty? Should they fix it or replace it?

The battery and charger are about 22 months old so it's within the 2 years.

If it doesn't work as it should then it's defective isn't it?

Whether it's covered by warranty depends on what's wrong with it. Say you dropped the battery and damaged the bit where the charger goes. That wouldn't be covered. On the other hand, if a connector had worn out or a component in the charger blew, that would be covered. I can't think of any reason that it wouldn't connect properly within the warranty period other than damage, but there's probably plenty of reasons that I can't think of. It should be obvious what's wrong when you look at the connectors.

There's nothing too obvious. No damage or corrosion.

I should've said that the connection doesn't feel tight, so it's probably all got a bit loose over time.

The battery costs about £500 and the charger £100, so it's a bugger if they need replacing just because the connections are worn.

Today it got even worse, it connects for a while then stops. Then a bit of fiddling and it starts again.

the connectors on the charger cable are quite thin but take a look at the pins in the batt where it connects as 1 might be a bit bent thus why it charges fine on the bike but not of the bike with the charger.

also try cleaning the connectors with switch cleaner to get the best connection possible.

Cheers, I've cleaned connectors with rubbing alcohol.

Connectors on each side look intact. I'll keep at it.

I would in your position, with only 2 months of guarantee left, get the seller to fix it.
Also get it documented that this has been carried out, as if it starts again in 3 months + time, you will be annoyed.
To me it sounds as though weak parts were used. You probably not alone with this problem, so take a look on the web....
