Battery failure question

Thanks for reply, maybe the 6-7 months I got then was not unreasonable given the small size of the battery pack and the daily load put on it. These were LiFePo4 cells (the packet-shaped type)..I used the BMS which came with the battery pack.

What you're suggesting sounds like it makes a lot more sense, using cells you can easily replace individually and also monitoring the individual cells with load balancing. Although it requires a bit more time and effort it probably works out much more economical doing it that way over time I guess.

I don't know much about my controller to be honest, it's described as "36V 15Ah Intelligent Controller".

Still 7 to 8 months of use out of an a123 battery is pretty good.
Did you balance it or have a Bms?

I'm currently using lipo in a backpack and run 44v 5ah or 44v 10ah depending on the range.
I enjoy knowing what each cell is doing and the flexibility lipo gives. They also have a mental discharge rate should I want to go mad with amps.

The Bms batteries will be good so long as you don't require to many amps. 10ah give your current usage should give you loads of range.

What size controller do you have?

If the Chemistry was Lifepo4 with such a small capacity your definetly at least calling for a 3c peak with a small controller (15amp) So I think running those cells at a higher c rate plus daily usage is a little much but I wouldn't complan to much at the cost you paid!
