I had posted this in 'Technical', but as I haven't yet had any replies, thought I'd post here too.

My question is this:

I have a 48v Li Pol battery which (as part of a conversion) I am thinking of mounting inside an aluminium box.

Does this need to be ventilated? What are the problems with Li Pol battery ventilation?

Thanks.

Allen.

I'd say you don't need any ventilation Allen. Many e-bike li-polymer battery cases are quite well sealed as are the cells. If anything an aluminium case is better since it disperses heat well and in the event of cell failure will resist burning out better than some of the flimsy plastic battery cases.
