I am quite happy with the 25kph limit on motor input, but wonder which touring/Treking bike has the best "oomph" up hills. Is it just torque or are other factors in play such as different specs of gears etc.

Has the forum answers??

you need power to climb hills.
A big fat motor, big battery and preferably crank drive for very steep hills.

What Trex says.

He's mentioned a crank drive Woosh, hub drive bikes from Cyclezee are also reckoned to be strong climbers.

If you are seriously thinking about buying an ebike, think a bit more about what you need.

I have two Bosch crank drive bikes, they are reckoned to be good, but not outstanding, climbers.

Both bikes have enough power for me, I rarely use full boost on either and if I come across a really steep hill I am content to whirr up it in first gear.

You mention touring/trekking bikes, which suggests you are thinking about day rides.

During such a ride, you might only come across one or two - or no - steep hills.

So is outright climbing ability that important?

To most of us, the answer is 'no'.

Also Panasonic hub drive powered bikes are worth checking out (which are featured on some KTMs). They now come with larger 560wh battery. Plus new Yamaha crank drive though not available until next year.

Good luck
