yes of course i should have been more careful saying what you cant do.... re phrase.. you cant easily throw a full size bike in all cars, thats if the weight doesnt snap your bike lifting it to try..and even those that you can it has to be pre planned so you clear out the stuff in the back of the car.... where'as a folder, especially a brompton, doesnt need pre planning as such, ie.. i was riding home one day and a mate passed, stopped..we threw brompton in his boot and off...

as previously said though...."horse's for course's"...... and even though ive got a fab brompton i was still after a full size bike, but the way of the world..."i missed the boat" as things shot up over night badly...::eek:

I posted because of the definitive nature of " in no cars" comment.

This is now getting silly.. with "throwing" the bike into a car and damaging it....why on earth would anyone want to damage either the bike or the car.

Do you really believe lifting a bike of the ground can snap it? I have been lifting bikes onto motorhome racks for years without a problem. I take the battery out to make it easier as well. I have 3 folders as well...you still have to clear out the boot, not normally anything preventing you folding the seats.

firstly "throwing" the bike into the car is a common phrase, are you being pedantic ?, i shall in future make sure i speak the queens english only to you...

secondly..it should have read "break your back"..not bike...as have you ever had the pleasure of lifting a powabyke into a car.....one i would need geoff capes with me to "throw" it into the car...

of course you have to clear the boot if you taking ALL your 3 folders...unless you have a brompton and that can rest on your knees if you a passenger and the back of the car is full of bikes....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blimey you are dramatic aren't you. I was just trying to make clear for others benefit that it is possible to transport E bikes in a car. A wisper without battery is approx 22kg  yes its a bit awkward but hardly heavy...what are you a man or a mouse!........only joking:)

have a nice evening

hi all

I've been looking at buying a folding Sunlova 'mountain bike'. It has 26" wheels. Does that mean that two of the problems associated with folders ie - 1) small wheels/low gearing = a bit slow when peddling on the flat and 2) seat too near the handle bars, so uncomfortable to ride over large distances - might be absent from this larger wheel size folder?

Yes, all those problems disappear normally on full size centre hinge folders like that. As long as the hinge locking is secure and rigid you'll have nothing special to worry about.
