Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site and also to the world of electric bicycles, so greetings to you all and please forgive any naivety on my part!

I am considering whether an electric bicycle could be a possible solution to my current predicament and I wonder if anybody has thoughts about the following.

I work early shifts (before the public transport stirs) and normally cycle, but earlier this year suffered an injury which prevents me from being able to pedal in any meaningful way. Since then I have been relying on taxis each morning but healing has proved to be much slower than first anticipated, and apart from the environmental costs it’s also going to become financially unsustainable for me to continue this way.

My questions are these. Would it be realistic to expect an electric bicycle to do a 12 mile round trip each day with very minimal pedalling to assist it? Even if possible, would this be very harmful to the bike? Finally, are there any recommendations as to which, if any, model might be most suitable for this kind of heavy reliance on the motor?

Further potentially useful info:
- I live in the Leeds area so some hills are to be expected, including one fairly hefty uphill trek at the beginning of the journey (I cannot see myself conquering this one without very significant or complete assistance).

Thanks for your time,

Mark

Welcome to the forum Mark. You must go and try some. There will be one that will suit your needs. The bike I have just bought for my brother was bought specifically because he wanted not to have to pedal all the time. So, it has a throttle! ... brilliant! .. whatever will they think of next! ...
