Brilliant article here be Giles Coren of The Times.
Giles Coren is a complete idiot!
He should know better.
You only have to read on of the recent posts here to know why all riders need to wear one.
If you dont wear a helmet, you probably dont have a brain to save anyway.
Im sure this will start off the age old debate again!

I agree - leave Boris alone, people voted for him because he doesn't wear a helmet and that's the way we like him.

By the way I was in a cab on the way back from work late the other night. The driver said in disgust - "look at that cyclist, no helmet, tut, tut, tut" (he hadn't muttered a word up to that point). I just told him that it wasn't a legal requirement (he seemed genuinely amazed) and wasn't it interesting that cyclists that wear helmets are likely to be overtaken more closely than those that don't (he wasn't so interested in that argument). But interesting that he thought that the guy was riding illegally. I wonder how many other ways people think we are breaking the law when we aren't.

Here we go again, complete with preaching from do-gooders who would wish to deny us our basic right of free choice.
Just what I thought.
Though I did it, to get a little conversation started in this otherwise dead forum.

Oh no not again...

I wore a helmet for the first time in many years today, only because it was compulsory in the Presteigne rally but was glad I did because it got hairy going round that route - especially with the route going through church grounds upon which a christening was taking place! :D

Hmm . . Giles Coren . . . burncycle . . . . Giles Coren . . . . burncycle.

"It’s just so vulgar to treasure one’s mortal coil this brazenly. To wear so publicly one’s trembling, pasty-faced fear of death."

Yep, I think I'll go with Giles Coren.
