Bosch Purion

Hi all, I've just brought a Raleigh ebike fitted with a Bosch Purion system that has not been used in a while. It seems not to want to switch on. The battery is charged and I've changed the batteries in the head unit. When the power button on the battery is pressed the motor clicks and the battery lights come on, but nothing at the head unit. If I plug into the usb port the head unit lights up and I can scroll through the power setting also the motor clicks and battery lights up. As soon as the usb is removed it shuts down. Anyone got any thoughts as to what to try next?

The cheap Chinese display is not what you'd expect from Bosch. It makes contact with little gold spring pins in its holder that get stuck due to corrosion. Take the display off and use something pointed to check every pin. Stick some silicone grease on there to prevent further corrosion and make the pins move more freely. Those pins make contact with something inside the holder. I can remember having to take one apart to clean the inside, which isn't difficult, so do that if freeing the pins doesn't solve it.

I don't have Bosch specific knowledge, but one thing I'd ask and one think I'd try...

Did it work properly the last time the previous owner used it?

Can you remove the battery and clean / wiggle the contacts just to be sure there is a good connection. Same with any other accessible connectors.

And then try again.

Hi, the Purion head unit appears to be hard wired to the bike and not detachable other than from the motor end. As the motor clicks when power is applied to the usb port I'm assuming the wire is sound. It just doesn't seem to respond to the two new CR2016 batteries I've fitted.
I guess I wish to know weather spending £50 on a diagnostic test and reset will fix it or will buying a new head unit at about £100 fix it. I would hate to spend £50 + £100

Sorry, I was thinking of the Intuvia. You have to visit a Bosch dealer in that case.

Hi all, Having not found anybody with a positive word to say about the Bosch Purion I brought an intuvia retro fit kit from winstanleys bikes, only £102 including postage, almost the same price some charge for a replacement Purion. Ordered Friday afternoon arrived Saturday PM excellent service fitted it this evening and all seems well.

the stem mount that comes with the kit sucks tho this is the one i have.
