Brake blocks/pads

The brake blocks on my Synergie Mistral are beginning to show sign of wear and will soon need replacing. Can anyone recommend a decent replacement which combines good stopping power with a reasonable rate of wear please?

Also is there anything in particular I should watch when actually fitting them?
