Last weekend I put new brake blocks on, front and rear, adjusted brakes, everything fine.........except, the front brake sounds like a flock of geese passing overhead, everything looks O.K.....is it just new blocks bedding in ? they are V brakes...........Del.

High del. you can sometimes stop v brakes from squealing by toeing them in slightly ie so the front edge of the brake block hits the wheel rim a little bit before the back, this stops them from vibrating.daveboy

Whether you have vee or disk brakes, some pads squeal and some don't. You can do all sorts of things to make it better temporarily. Sometimes it disappears for ever, but most times it comes back again. The only permanent solution I found was to change the pads to a different type.

Thanks both Dave's, it certainly attracts attention, I have to say that I'm not a big fan of V brakes, in my cycling days it was just calliper brakes, I suppose they are O.K. if set correctly........Del.

Daveboy, did what you said, and ''toed'' the blocks in, first time I've used a credit card for ages, anyway , it worked, the ''flock of geese'' have flown away, and silence has returned, thanks for that.......Del.
