I saw this British Cycling Membership on Hot Uk Deals and at £11.60 thought that it may be of interest. Link here

Amongst other things, it gives you personal accident insurance, £10M third party insurance, 10% off all Halfords purchases, 12% off the British Cycling Wiggle Shop. It might benefit some, if only for the discounts.

To get it for £11.60, sign up via Quidco or Top Cashback and get £10 back, that brings it down from £24 to £14. Then pay via DD to get a further 10% off.......£11.60. I use Quidco and TCB a lot and have never had a transaction fail to pay up.

I'm not sure if the insurance is worth it, as my house policy covers me up to £5M TP and I can't conceive how I could possibly do more damage than that on a bike. However, the Wiggle and Halfords discounts plus the personal injury insurance might be worth it for just under twelve quid. If it goes up to full price next year, just cancel.

You're right to be gravely suspicious of the insurance elements - in the small print:

‘Personal Accident’ Insurance - Legal & Insurance Home

Included with our Race Gold membership, this is a particular kind of insurance cover that provides cash payments if you are hospitalised overnight. Lump sum payments are also provided for death and permanent disability but loss of earnings and medical expenses are not covered under this policy. Available to : Race Gold Members only
