I just got back from the Brompton World Champs at Blenheim Palace, and what an event. One for Presteigne to take note of! Mass start like lemans(we all ran to our bikes), and a dress code for all entrants(suit jacket, shirt and tie). It was really fun. I never realised how hard it is to ride a Brompton 13k! Here's some pictures of my outfit, which I spent 13 hours making the night before. I think I might wear it at Presteigne too.......:D

Great stuff Lloyd, I'm glad you got fixed up with a Brompton for the event.

Maybe an idea for the event next year would be the Le Mans start by running to the folded bike, so including the unfolding skills as well. There'd be plenty of extra fingers and thumbs fumbling then. :D

Funny you say that as they did just that. Typically having only just got mine an hour before, and having never had one before I had no idea how to unfold the flipping thing so looked like a right plumb at the start next to all the Brompton pro's.....:D

Hi Lloyd_50cycles

I don't think your unfolding skills are the only reason you looked like a right plum.

Who are you some kind of Evel Knieval.

thx

I'd be as bad Lloyd, I've never folded or unfolded a Brompton, just used to Dahon style middle hinges. At least you had the later long tube bike, more stable.

Are you intending a repeat next year with your newly acquired expertise, or is it "once bitten, twice shy". :)

Oh yes, especially if it is in Spain like the first 2......:D

Bob surely you are not referring to my outfit, oddly enough in a race with hundreds of grown men(and women) riding folding bikes around a palace wearing suits, with a gorilla and Micheal Jackson, I fitted right in.

Actually Bob, I am racing my non-electric bike in Scarborough at the Urban Downhill event. I will be taking an Agattu to display on our stand on the pier if anyone fancies coming down for a ride? It'll be much more fun than jumping the canyon. I'm saving that one for later in the year........;)
