You asked for it Vikki,

This is going to be quite brief as there is not a huge amount to tell, but it was enjoyable and it is the first time I have participated in any sort of organised cycling event.

I arrived at the start point a bit early. The weather looked like it might rain, but it was in fact ideal, much cooler than yesterday.
As it happened, I was the second person to arrive, just another chap on a non-electric 3 wheel recumbent. This turned out to be our leader, Rich Forrest a bit of a kamikaze, you can read about his crazy exploits here richforrest.co.uk .

Within a few minutes a group of 24 had assembled, all ages and sexes. With the exception of Bankie and myself, everyone was on non-powered bikes. The ride was fairly gentle 13 mile cruise around some of the scenic Redway routes of MK.

Bankie and I were both on Kalkhoff Pro Connects, and happily, there were no comments about cheating or any other derisory remarks regarding pedelecs, on the contrary, I had quite a few questions to answer about the Kalkhoff.

At the end of the ride we gathered at a pub for a pint and a chat, like you do. As it was his birthday, Rich had several pints of cider to consume, his reason for using 3 wheeler I do believe:p

In summary, a good time was had by all:D

I will definitely be going for the next ride on 4th July which will be over a different route and cover 20 miles.

Further to the subject bike ride. Two weeks ago it was reported in the local press (with a photo of it) that a zillion pounds, brand new yellow recumbant bike had been stolen in MK. This bike had been specially ordered and transported from the States to the victim to be.
While John was chuntering to mad Rich I got chatting to a lad called David, who mentioned that he usually arrived on a recumbant but it had been stolen. Jokingly, I asked if it was yellow and he said yes. He told me that, a few days after the theft, his mate told him that some guy, allegedly from London, had posted it on ebay. Another IT savvy mate, further found that the
post had actually originated from MK. The crook has been caught and is awaiting trial, while David is waiting for his bike back as it is evidence.

How clever the tealeaf is at theiving the bike and how dumb he is at fencing
it!
