Can i join my batteries together

Hi, i have up graded my motor to a 350, also i have got a 350 watt controller.What i want to know is can i connect both my batteries in-line to enable more watts ?

If you parallel them, joining the two positives together and the two negatives together, that will double the capacity in Ampere hours which is right for you since it compensates for your increased consumption now. Multiplying the Ah with the voltage gives the Watt hours capacity.

Joining them in line with one positive to the another's negative, you double the voltage which is wrong for you.

Hi Flecc,many thanks for the information.I will try it this afternoon and see what difference it makes.I will let you know what difference it does in assisting myself up the hills.

It won't be dramatic, but you should notice an improvement in the way it maintains the climb, the larger capacity more able to deliver the current the motor needs. It's also good for longer battery life to have the larger battery capacity. Make sure you alway start with both fully charged though, don't use a fully charged one paired with a partly discharged one.
