So are you telling me you could put a 2"+ mountain bike 29er tyre onto a wheel from a 7kg road bike?

Or that one of those racing snake 50g rubber bands the roadies laughingly call a tyre would fit on my 29er Rose?

By the way, I already knew the wheels are all same diameter, but thanks for telling me, twice.
Don't forget the 2" plus mtb tyre wouldn't fit the roadbike frame/forks, even if you could fit them to your 700c wheel.

Am I right in thinking that they (the mechanical bikes) offer about the same quality grade or one has better components than the other?

not wanting to be too anti halfords, but you are comparing a cheap own Halfords brand, built by mechanics who really are on the first steps of the industry ladder, with a bike bought from a proper bike shop, built by a proper brand with 50 years heritage.

yes, they might be able to put some nice components on it, but it doesnt change the fact that its a Halfords bike, and the second value is very very poor. Would you consider it if they still called the bike Apollo?

The frame is also a crucial part, the Macina Action has a high quality aluminium frame built specifically for the demands of performance eBiking.

The Boardman is built specifically to get under the £1000.00 price point so they can sell it on their own Cycle 2 Work scheme.

you can't really compare 2 more different bikes / brands.

The Boardmans do represent great value, with amazing components for the price, but a bike is very much more than the some of the components. Our £1000.00 alu hardtail, is the KTM Ultra 1964, which is £949.99

and a bit more of a fair comparison.
