Just plugged in the charger when connected to the battery and something when bang(not too loud)

Does this mean the charger has had it or the battery? Charger has no light now. Replacements are 55 quid on Halfords, is there a cheaper alternative?

Thanks

The good news is that you can use a £10 Ebay charger if all else fails.

Before anything have a look in the socket. You should see a central pin and a spring blade going down next to it. Make sure that the blade is OK.

Most likely, a fuse has gone due to inrush. Check the fuse in the plug and have a good look around the charger to see if it has a removable fuse in it. Sometimes, theye're well hideen, so look careful for anything that might ne a removable panel. if the fuse in the plug is OK and you can't see another fuse, you'll have to open it to see if there's one inside.

For this type of charger and battery, it's best to have the charger on before you connect. Can you say exactly what procedure you used.

Made a mistake and connected to the battery and then plugged in, to a 4 way extension that was already plugged in and turned on. Would you be able to suggest an eBay one if the fuse is ok

Check the plug fuse first and there may be a fuse inside the charger, one may have to undo the base to get inside.
The charge connector is DC5.5mm x 2.1mm or 5.5 x 2.5mm one needs to check the pin size to see which one.

The £10 ebay ones, one has to be careful as some listing's are incorrect. Most are for scooters and are 3 pin connector yet some product pics show a 5.5mm x 2.1 or 2.5mm connector.
