Cateye sensor not working

Hi folks,

I can't seem to get my Cateye computer to work. I've adjusted the sensor on the spokes to line up with the other component, but it only briefly recorded the speed then stopped. It had been working fine for years.

Any ideas what could be wrong and how to get it working again?

Sensor and head unit uses a watch battery.

If it's a wireless one, they don't normally work on electric bikes because of the interference from the motor commutation.

Thanks for your replies folks. Vfr400, it used to work perfectly until recently, but appreciate your thoughts. Fishy and Nealh, the time and everything still displays - would this be the case if the battery was dead? I didn't realise the sensor had a battery too...I shall have a look as this could be the reason.

Yea, assuming it's wireless, the sensor will have a battery too.

They use ordinary CR1632 batteries or similar that you can get from anywhere. Don't go to Halfords or a cycle shop unless you like to waste money.

If wireless the sensor can't transfer the signal if the battery is flat,

Just changed the batteries on the sensor and computer - Cateye is working again thank you everyone for your help.
