CatEye Velo8 HELP PLEASE!

Hello.

End of summer time, so reset my clock on my CatEye Velo8. Shouldn't have bothered, as now I've managed to drop all my data, but worst of all, I can't get the thing to move from km/h to mph.

I AM pressing two buttons at once, I think, the Mode button and the one on the back (recessed), but not much happens.

Instructions are close to useless, so can anyone here make an old man happy and tell me what I should be doing?

You have to take the battery out to start again Allen, the kilometres/miles being the first setting stage after replacing it.

Agreed the instructions are inadequate to say the least.

Hmm. Taking the battery out and replacing it (after 30 seconds or so) has no effect - the km/h just keeps on a-flashing. I'll try leaving the battery out for half an hour or so, and report back.

No Allen, after replacing the battery you have to push the button on the front to change to miles, then the recessed button to step to the next setting. Kilometers are the default from manufacture.

Thanks flecc. In my case I think it's buggered (technically), as whatever you press, the km/h just keeps on flashing.

I think that the 'set' button (recessed round the back) is stuck in the down position, but to break it open and try and fix it is probably not worth it, as Chain Reaction are currently flogging them for £13 free p&p...

Just a note made on the next day, for anyone searching for info on Velo 8s...

The trick is this. When the instructions (sort of) say to press both buttons together, they don't mean it. They sometimes mean pressing the MODE button and holding it down, AND at the same time pressing the SET button (on the back). Othertimes they mean you to press the SET button and hold it, and then press the MODE button.

That way, you can access the functions and changes that you need.
