can i use cheap bullet connectors to connect to the battery to the Controller

You can but depends on the current and wire size, cheap bullets get very hot and melt the insulation. You are better buying the nice soldered gold bullets and heat shrink to insulate or use nice XT60's.

Even larger bullet connectors get very hot - note the slightly melted cover on the left. I soldered battery wires to the controller directly, when I eventually learned to solder. I can now solder thick wires together perfectly
