Choice of Motors & Replacement Batteries

I understand that Bosch motors won't accept anything other than an official Bosch battery nor is it easy to re-cell even a Bosch battery but what about the other makes, Yamaha, Brose, Shimano Steps etc, in the interests of economy are there any that will allow a battery re-cell?

the trend is to make all batteries not serviceable.
All the batteries I buy since last year have all been gunked up.
