Hi guys just been looking on eBay and saw this claud butler e-freeway for sale its made by claud butler and cyclotricity £669.00 looks a real nice bike very temped looks nicer than there revolver bike which i was thinking of geting.do like this style of bike over mountain bike so nice to ride. What do you guys think.
It sounds OK if you consider that the kit (if it includes the LCD read out) would cost you £549, so you're getting the rest of the bike with all the fitting work done for you for £120.
Having said that and with no disrespect to Cyclotricity, you would be getting what you pay for, a low end bike whose components may wear quickly with use and replacing worn parts ultimately costs more than paying more for a better bike to start with. I've been there, done that.
If you could pay a bit more I would consider buying a bike from a local bike shop at around the £300 mark, perhaps a little less, where there are some pretty good mountain bikes if you aren't into serious off road stuff and happy with V brakes rather than discs. You could try a few out for correct size and find one which really suits you, maybe with more gears and front suspension, then fit the kit yourself.
The Cyclotricity kit with bottle battery starts at £450 without PAS which could be added later if you wished would make the whole thing come in at around £750 but with a much better quality bike.
edited as I just noticed you aren't looking for a mountain bike style, though the same applies for a hybrid type.
Dave.
