Hello there,

I recently purchased a bike on ebay:
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

I though it was a bargain for a new bike. (£320 with shipping cost included)

However, once the bike is assembled, electric assistance can be barely noticed and max speed is around 13 km/h :(

It's really too slow and everyone (all non electric cyclists) is faster than me, at this pace it's also quite dangerous on the road.

The battery is 36V8AH and motor is 36V 250W. This bike should be able to go over 25KM/h easily. But because there is no controller, I can't set the electric assistance power of the motor. I think it's set as 'Low' as default setting.

Do you guys have any idea about how I could solve this problem?

Many thanks

I should think there IS a controller. Are there any wires and where do they go? So photos would be useful. Have you tried asking the seller? He seems to have sold 9. I wonder who to and if they have the same problem as you ...

Photos are the one in ebay page:
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

If you need me to take specifics pictures of the bike just ask :)

I don't know where would be located the controller. Would that be below the battery? And for other buyers I have no idea if they like the power assistance. The bike is quite good to ride, the only BIG problem is electric assistance.

I asked the seller he has no idea how to deal with that. I tried to know who was the manufacturer and he doesn't know neither... And worse: the handbook doesn't have any brand name... :(

On my bike I have controls on my handlebar and if I follow the cable it goes to a box that is under my bottom bracket. Then there is cable coming out again to the motor and the battery. Do you have any controls on the handlebar?

There has to be a controller between the battery and the motor. I think if you take some pictures of the battery and what it fits into (perhaps turn the bike upside down and photograph the underneath also) and the motor and where the wires go from the motor back to the controller.
Then perhaps I (and maybe others on here) can advise on how to dismantle / investigate. Its either that or return it to the seller and get a refund.
Depends how technically minded you are and how you feel about tinkering with it also. The wires from the hub motor will be connected to the controller so if you follow them back from the motor and see where they go.
Also what controls do you have on the handlebar?

Thanks for all these replies.

There is no controls on the handbar. I'll try to take some pictures and remove the battery to check that.

Will keep you posted soon.

Thanks again.

Hello again guys, I can't find the controller.

Here are the pictures:

Picture of the battery on the right

Battery on the left with the key and charging plug

Battery from the top. Once on, the light shows the remaining capacity

Battery removed: We have 4 pins to plug the battery

Better view of the 4 pins once the battery is removed

Battery from below where we can see the 4 pins

Rear wheel from the right

Any idea where would be the controller and how we could change the speed/power?
Thanks

Here are the pictures:
The controller

From where I get the controller

Controller cables have some going to the top of the bike

Seems to be related to the brake but there are no other controls

Actually, this is just a plastic cap that can help connecting with other cables. Why removing the plastic cap would be of any help?

Many thanks
