I always wear glasses when I'm out cycling - I think they're an absolute must for safe cycling, protecting your eyes and looking cool. Naturally I only get the best (Aldis & Lidls) but was recently tempted to really splash out on something a bit special. Be warned these are expensive

Bolle Contour ESP Lens Spectacles - Screwfix.com, Where the Trade Buys

Bolle Contour ESP - Safety Glasses & FREE storage pouch on eBay (end time 04-Aug-09 13:17:50 BST)

They look nothing like the photos having a bronze frame with very nice tinted lenses. I ordered them off ebay but then found I had a Screwfix outlet less than a mile away! Totally recommended especially for July :(

Brilliant glasses

Incompletely agree about the glasses. I have a pair myself but there is no difficulty in finding them. Go to Homebase and look in the safety goggle section and you will find them there at about the same price.

Almost the same thing round in Halford's cycling department sells for about £25.00!

I bless them every time a bee smacks off the polycarbonate!

What I really liked about the Bolle was the lens tint is just right for everyday wear. They're actually very similar in design to the Lidl sports glasses which I thought were very good because the lens size & fit kept the pesky insects out. Unfortunately the rubbers fell off the arms. Also I found swapping the lenses to match the light conditions a bit of a pain and could never get it right. The clarity through the Bolles is first rate.

Makes your eyes water thinking about it. I got hit by fast moving grit. The sort the council likes to put down in ridiculous quantities - 20 mph max speed limit - yeah right.

I tend to use the Bolle glasses as they wear very well, the Aldi glasses (not ones with changable lenses) are much lighter but a bit too easily scratched and difficult to get hold of when I lose a pair.

I use cheap Aldi wrap around sports glasses.
Here in the wilds of Cornwall - where every other car is a four-wheel drive monster, with deep tread tyres that sling-shoot stones the size of marbles at 40mph plus in your face - eye protection is essential

I used to use the Aldi glasses but once I tried a pair of Spiuk Tortions I never looked back. the photochromatic lenses are a revelation and they also come with high conrtrast iridium lenses too. I found the aldi glasses a false economy as i tended to buy a few pairs every time they were on sale. I always treated them badly given the cheap price too. I have also noticed the difference in the distortion of the optics when compared to the spiuks. you get what you pay for!!

And you pay for what you lose, I lose about 4 pairs a year so I'm going to stick to cheap one. :D

I find it easier to just squint my eyes when going downhill. After all, it's why god gave us eyelashes! ;)
