Cyclamatic battery upgrade?

There was a thread about this a while ago here:

if it works you should get quite a bit more speed and power. I don't know whether you can understand it. In case not, they didn't try it, so can't say that it'll be OK. In theory it should work, but the possible problems are:
1. Any battery indicator LEDs or won't work properly
2. The controller might have over-volt protection, so won't work with 36v - not that likely but possible
3, If the contoller has low voltage protection, that function won't work, so then you need the battery management system (BMS) to switch off when the voltage goes too low. The battery probably has that in it, but it's not sure. You would need to connect a voltmeter or something to show that the battery switches off if it gets much below 31v, otherwise it would get damaged.
You could get a new 36v brushless hall sensor controller to replace your existing one. You see them on Ebay sometimes, but make sure that it has the brake switch and pedal sensor connections. Other than that, you might have to swap a few connectors.

Penlost, I pondered over changing the 24v battery to a similar 36v one, but sense got the better of me.
The battery casing is fairly unique to the Cyclamatic, so if the £200 upgraded battery didn't work, then I would be left with a battery that would be difficult to integrate into another build.
Are you after more speed, more power or both?
With the LSDZS controller installed in your Cyclamatic, it is capable of handling 24/36 and 48v.
Unfortunately, no matter what voltage you throw at it, I believe it is software programmed to run at 15MPH max.
Low voltage isn't an issue, as the 24v battery has a LVC, so the 36v should have one too.
If you want a little extra pulling (torque) power, then if you are confident with a soldering iron, you can carry out the shunt mod.

This will give you noticable pulling away and up hill grunt, but don't expect it to turn the Cyclamatic into a monster. For that you will need to build your own bike.

Many thanks for your replies. Actually I am fairly happy with the bike but figured that it might be an easy way of improving performance later if the battery degrades. I have noticed that the gearing is rather low.

The shunt mod looks interesting but not sure if I am brave enough to give it a go yet!!
