Cyclamatic Power Plus Cutting Out

I have a problem with my Cyclamatic Power Plus as soon as any load is placed on the motor either throttle or peddle the bike cuts out. It will only run again by turning the key off and on again.
I bought the bike last Jan 2010 and apart from a 10 mile ride to test it is as new. It has been dry stored in a shed and the battery kept indoors and charged every few months. The voltage offload is over 28 volts and appears ok. The bike has been back to Sports Hq for checks but was delivered back with no paperwork or evidence that they did anything with the same fault. So do I sell it for spares or can anyone help me?

Sounds like the battery can't give enough power for what the controller wants. Have a look at the battery connections to make sure that they're making good contact. If you can, get a small screwdriver in to bend them out a bit to make better contact

Sports hq suggested that so took the battery base off and bent the contacts to make them tighter but it didn't make a lot of difference. Although initially I felt it went a few seconds longer before tripping.
I have also pulled out the other cables near the controller but they all appear good. It seems likely to be the battery as its losing power under load but reluctant to buy another as if they fail without use its spending good money after bad.
I don't see many others reporting problems with Cyclamatics and wonder if I am just unlucky.

just wondering if you ever found out the problem, my cyclamatic is behaving exactly the same?

Try cleaning the prongs on the battery base with some electrical contact cleaner. Also, gently prise the contacts on the battery inwards. This lessens any electrical resistance in that area, which can cause current flow problems.

Also, inside the controller compartment under the battery, there's two bullet/barrel connectors, pull them apart, crimp the barrels down a bit and re-connect.

What happens to the LEDs on the throttle when you apply power? They should give a good indication of what's happening with battery voltage.

Is it cutting out with the throttle?

Has this problem been resolved? I have a similar problem after 5 min everything turns off including LED's. If I pull the battery out and then put it back it starts again but only goes for a short distance before happening again. I've looked at the battery and bent the pins to make a better connection, but I'm thinking it might be a motor issue?

Hubs very rarely go wrong, more likely controller or battery. I would say battery .

Batteries are like a bit of string. It all depends on use, charging, discharge rate and cells used. 2 - 7 years or so, most often after 2 -3 years batteries will have lost some capacity and once you get to 4 - 5 or more years some may well have lost 50% of their original capacity. If you have a throttle give it full welly and if the system cuts out then voltage collapse or severe voltage sag is to blame and indicates a battery past it's best.
Also you don't say what the battery capacity /ah is.
For an example a new 11ah battery will take about 5.5 - 6hrs hrs to fully balance charge with a 2a charger input, as the battery ages and loses capacity the charge time to full lessens and a really tired battery may be done in 2 -3 hrs.

Often purely measuring the voltage means nothing as the cells can still read a full voltage value of 4.14 - 4.2v, if you let the battery sit for a while 48hrs or so you may see the voltage reading decrease.
