Thought I'd post the result of a modification here just in case anybody is interested.

I was in the USA and bought a Cycle Analyst with a 20A infineon controller.

This has now been fitted to a bike with SB 250W motor and 10Ah (allegedly) battery.

Everything works great. The bike definitely has a more torque up hills and peak power is 500-600W on very steep and slow sections. Power is around 200-250W generally on the flat so the bike is still legal. Current draw is 18/19A from standstill with no assistance but never gets near this once moving. Top speed is unaffected.

The infineon controller has cruise control which is great and saves cramp! Pedelec sensor is no longer used.

The battery which is labelled as 10Ah dropped to 30V after suppying 9Ah and the controller cut the power. This was after 23 miles full throttle use. I am guessing that most batteries will not give quite as much as they state on the label or am I wrong?

Final verdict is a great improvement to the bike. I can't see that this setup will stress the motor or gears much more than the original contoller if used sensibly.

great news and thanks fo rthe results. i think I wil get the analysts as well. With regs to the battery I think the 10Ah would be suppllied only on the 0.5C or less than that, am right or not. I think than higher current you draw then less Amps/h the battery will actually give , is that right?

The 20A infineon controller would definitely make a difference in performances. My controller is currently configured to output 15A max, which results in 400W power peaks. When that happens, the 36V 10Ah Li Ping LiFePO4 battery sees a voltage drop to 37V or 36V (down from 39V / 40V fully charged).

I love reading these statistics when cycling, the Cycle Analyst is a really neat piece of equipment. :D (backlit screen large enough to have a quick, safe glimpse while riding)
