I was pleasantly surprised (not to mention relieved!) to find power sockets behind every seat on yesterdays (Sunday) Swansea to Paddington train. Later when I enthused about this over diner my daughter rolled her eyes and said that trains have had power sockets for ages.. Well .. I don't go on trains very often! ...
Things I noted not in any particular order:
Batteries that have a screw in charging point are better. My Cytronex battery has a connection that almost balances on the neck of the bottle. I was a bit worried about the bottle falling over! I did contenplate putting the bottle between my legs but I dont think the young girl sitting next to me would have been very comfortable ... I hope this is one of the things that will improve in future.
Newport Station has an old fashioned weighing machine. Must make sure I have 20p with me next time! ...I wonder how many stations have these? ...
I was a liitle worried about leaving my bike in the cycle carriage. But I was carrying extra velcro so I was confident it wasn't going to fall over but other bikes could take a tumble or new bikes joining may be throw in! .... I suppose I could run out everytime the train stops and check ...
Both Newport and Reading stations have excellent lifts making life very easy for the cyclist.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience of cycling and travelling on a train.
