I thought the link was broken but a click on the pic brought up the article which I also found interesting.

Reading about 100Km + cycle rides, brings me out in a sweat, let alone actually riding that far.

That pretty much echos my thoughts about what rides I'd like to participate in, I'd go for the chaotic Dynamo or the commercial events but things organised by CTC fill my head with images of self important club members all trying to assert their authority with nasally voices.

I don't know why the link has stopped working, it was fine for me a minute ago.
Edit: got this from my history:
Cyclosportives are the glamping of amateur cycling – but there is an alternative | The Bike Show - a cycling radio show and podcast from Resonance FM

The link originally worked perfectly for me, then it stopped. Something either changed on here or the other site to stop it working.
Yes thanks I edited it again lets see if it stays.

EVERYTHING is commodified and commercialised (see K.Marx et al). Even protest about everything being commodified etc. is commodified and commercialised.

Still worth fighting against, though.

Agreed and I am probably as much to blame being an ardent consumer

I do however like to fiddle and tinker DIY wise. I guess it keeps the world going round. Such things use to fill me with guilt but as I get older I have become less self critical and more relaxed.
