It might seem a bit heavy to start with , but persevere . One thing it shows is that even among cyclists , quite a few people can not draw a bicycle . This is not about artistic ability , but about perception .
Also , this made me think about the psychology of travel . As a kid , I lived in an isolated village . Most people worked , or went to school within a mile and a half of home . Apart from a visit to the pub , or the chapel , people stayed at home . Some farmers went to market in the nearby town five miles away on a Wednesday , often on the bus . My father only left Lincolnshire once in his life , when he went to the Cheddar Gorge for a week . My dad used to tell about when he went for a job in another village , back in the 1930s . His mate advised him against turning up on his bike , as that would give the impression that he had been used to high wages . Today we often travel for the sake of it , because travel has become cheaper in real terms . People commute long distances . The food on your plate has travelled thousands of miles before you eat it .I often wonder if, after the Oil Age ends , things will go back to the way they were .
