Decent weatherproof inline sockets which are waterproof when uncoupled

.... that was a bit of a mouthful :)rolleyes:) but basically - looking for some. Would be grateful for recommendations. I'm looking for some good quality ones that can be well capped off when uncoupled.

Here's an example of the sort of thing, which is part of a hardwire Samsung phone charger assembly for motorbike :

In the photo above, the female socket into which the charger lead plugs is open ready for coupling. When not in use the charger lead is disconnected and the socket capped off. Like so :

I'd like something similar which I can fit to the power supply cable for my largest front light, as this will only actually be fitted on to the bike mount when I'm going to be out using it in harsh conditions. Rest of the time it'll be off the bike. So it needs to be able to be unplugged and the socket capped off like the system above (it's to be hardwired off main battery).

The only thing remotely similar I've found from a heck of a lot of searching are these :

Mini 3 Pole - 10 - 22 amps - Torberry Connectors Online Shop

They're nowhere near as good as what's on the charger lead though and a full assembly isn't cheap when you add it all up. Any suggestions of alternatives would be appreciated. Looking for small, very secure/weatherproof/vibration-resistant both when sealed off not in use, and also when coupled in use with the fitting connected. Many thanks. :)

As your building a water 'resistant' battery box into the frame, I'd be inclined to have a socket covered by a waterproof flap on the side near the top in that, then you can use much better and cheaper plugs / sockets like deans or xt60

I think a soft flap would be easier for you to construct, maybe made from a small square and use Velcro to hold it

I've got pretty much all available space slots taken up already Old_Dave and all the fittings already in hand for those slots, without starting to spoil the 'line' of my box. Really looking for the inline option on this one - as it's the last one (always the worst !).

It's only a 27W light that'll be drawing no more than 2.5A so only really need something good to 5-10A to be fine on this one. It's the fitting design that's hard to find. Found some options from the USA (as usual) but next to nothing in Britain and no local distributors of the US ones (also as per usual) except for the ones I linked. There are far better designed connectors for this specific sort of application than those - but getting ones' mucky mitts on them is quite another story.

Even I draw the line at spending £30 on a connector socket by the time you've paid off the postage, handling and small order pricing .

Instead of worrying about a special cover when disconnected, just use a waterproof connector and buy an extra connector to plug into the open connector when not in use, fill any wire openings with silicone.
That way you will have a lot more options and lower pricing.
Hope that makes sense?

Thanks Geebee. Yeah that makes sense and a good idea. A few very good looking ones at no more than those SPEC ones ... but not really much less, it has to be said, when you buy 3 plugs (one to seal off as a cap) and pay the postage.

These ones looked OK :

Deutsch DT Series

... but I got these instead with 2 males and one female :

Delphi Metri-Pack Connectors

These looked best ... but couldn't find any males to couple with the female.

... and these are an alternative I guess too :
