Good morning,
I am in the process of giving the old Pro-Connect a mid-life upgrade. I fitted a new (to me) 2011 Panasonic motor earlier in the year, and I have just ordered a new battery and charger which is on its way (the original battery is 6 1/2 years old and has done 18700 miles).
Now I am going to turn my attention to the brakes and fit a disc to the front. Can anyone help me with fork selection? Below is my specification for the forks:
Non suspension preferable.
Disc brake mounting point.
Must have mudguard mounting points.
White preferable.
1 1/8" steerer tube.
It's the mudguard fitting I'm struggling with. I can find plenty of forks, but don't know if they will take the guards. Also advice on steerer tube length, threaded / non threaded would be welcome.
As an aside for anyone with an old Kalkhoff or Panasonic driven bike from around 2008, the newer 250 Watt motors seem much more powerful. The 2011 motor which I now have fitted is very powerful by contrast to the 2008 version. After fitting the new one I didn't use the bike very much, but now that winter is approaching I have started using the Ebike again and really noticing the difference. The greater power demand has finished off the old battery and it can't cope with the 20 round trip commute, hence the new one on order.
I suppose this goes to show that the 250 Watt motor regulation can be exploited to give more assistance whilst still remaining legal.
