Hi,

I've just bought a kit from 8fun and am planning to start my build tonight :D

Is the controller which comes with these sort of kits waterproof? it looks 'potted' as there is silicone coming out of the holes where the cables emerge, but I just wanted to make sure! Is it just a matter of using some self amalgamating tape on the cable joins to seal them?

FYI it's a new Carerra Subway Hybrid that I'm converting with the 8fun bottle battery kit. I'll post details of the build.

Thanks,
Fraser

Don't know about waterproofing but will be interested to hear how you get on with your build, especially the fitting of the pedelec sensor as I am about to go down this route too.

I would say they are 'water resistant' and avoid any assumption of them being waterproof! Best to keep the controller out of any direct source of water or road spray if planning on an exposed mounting location....

Thanks for that NRG, I've been down to Maplin and picked up a plastic box to mount the controller and cable joins in.
