Do I need winter tryes?

With the onset of winter, I am reminded of the need for best quality rubber on my bike.

My bike came equipped with "Kenda 700 x 38C - K Shield puncture resistant tire casing" tyres. I have no idea whether these are long lasting/poor grip or last five minutes/superior grip.

With the sad tales I have been reading on this forum recently, this could be a very important issue. Any thoughts anyone?

Continental Top Contact Winter II are probably the best compromise, though quite expensive. The II version is strengthened for use with electric bikes.

I used Kenda 700c x 1.95 "puncture-proof" tyres on a 22mph assist-speed eZee Torq for one and a quarter years spanning a winter and experienced no problems, nor did I suffer a single puncture.

Though not the same tyre model as yours, this and good experience with different Kenda 20" tyres on another bike do seem promising indications.
