Does this require a new controller?

After fitting a Panda Pro 500 to a bike these problems arose.There was no road speed indicated on the screen as well as no battery indication and new wiring harness and screen gave the same result.

The wire that powers the screen is also used to give the voltage for the battery display, so it's unusual to get one without the other unless the cpu in the display has been killed, but i can't think what would have killed it unless you tried to connect the LCD with the battery power on and you didn't have the pins lined up so that one of the data pins touched the battery voltage pin.

If ,as you suggest,a cpu in the screen had blown then how come a different screen gave the same result? Ps. anyone know what make of motor is used in the 500w pro.

Don't know that specific system, but something like that can mean the controller and LCD screen are not communicating together. Different computer protocol. At least that is what happens to different generations of Sondors. They did that on purpose to slow the purchase of aftermarket parts and sell their accessories at higher prices.
