In previous years, I have instigated a poll for the e-bike of the year. As I am now a trader, I think it would be inappropriate for me to be involved and be accused of vote rigging when eZee comes out on top:eek:
Therefore if someone would like to take this over, please feel free.

Here is a reminder of last years poll http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/7269-e-bike-year-2010-a.html
LOL......in your dreams.......quite obviously it has to be the..........

TONARO ESPRIT :D :D

It's difficult to achieve a meaningful result from this poll. I would guess that most people, like me, have little experience of living with and using a variety of ebikes on a long term basis. It's only by using a bike over a period of time and under a variety of circumstances that you come to appreciate its strengths and weaknesses. I doubt that there are many people who have done this with the latest crop of bikes. This will simply result in people voting for whichever bike they happen to own.

I appreciate that the poll is just a bit of fun though.

Exactly right Tillson, it is an unscientific bit fun during the festive season;)

Will someone please step forward and administer the poll?

Well done Tillson and thank you.
It is quite simple, you set the rules, categories and run it the way you want.

Although the Pedelecs' "Ebike of the year" poll has been described as "just a bit of fun", it is noticeable that several of those polled have simply nominated the bike they own. We could probably make it a little more objective if we ruled that voters are not permitted to vote for a bike they own.

It would still be just a bit of fun.

And why should we not vote for the bike we own if we prefer it ?
How could it be more objective if we dont, for example, have experience of many other bikes.....and presumably the bikes that we DO have experience of, we rejected in favour of the bike we purchased.....for whatever personal reasons we may have had for that decision.

So is this poll actually ' a bit of fun' or are we all supposed to be studying the most innovative bike(s) to appear this year and hail them as the best, regardless of whether we have actually seen/tried them ?

Hows that supposed to work exactly ?
Is this ''Ebike of the year'' for the most technically advanced or whatever.... or the Ebike we, each individual, actually personally prefer ?

Or is it not actually 'a bit of fun' at all, but just for the 'experts' and 'technically advanced ebike afficionados' amongst members ?

I'm not bothered. Just vote for the bike, kit or thing that you like most, but don't forget to nominate it first or else you won't be able to vote for your favourite!

I see that no one has nominated Stephen Gingerbeard's electro-pedals. I wonder what happened to them?

I do hope that he is finally receiving a level of care appropriate for his needs.

It's about subjective v objective Lynda and I just think it might be a little bit more interesting if voters have to exercise their minds and choose something other than the one they bought which, for most people, cannot be described as anything other than the perfect choice, even if in reality it's a bag of manure.

If I'm to believe that the Tonaro Esprit or any Tonaro is ebike of this year or any year, then those bike makers who are trying to push the envelope might as well not bother as their efforts are clearly not welcomed by some in this forum.

Still, it is funny to imagine a Tonaro as ebike of the year.

I don't know, since it's motor unit is a straight lift of the early Yamaha PAS e-bike crank unit, I nominate it as e-bike of the year 1999.

Well.....I think I can exercise my mind as well as the next person......but I refuse to vote for any bike that I dont personally have experience of..........interesting as that may be....or not.

Not knowing your ' sense of humour (?)' personally I cannot comment on why you would imagine a Tonaro winning 'funny'.......but perhaps it would be nice to stop slagging off other peoples personal choices and get back to what this thread was started as.....' a bit of fun for Christmas'

I havent noticed much Christmas spirit so far.........

Well, I'm just teasing Lynda. I think the Tonaros have a place as bringing throttle control with crank drive to the e-bike market, something which has been lacking for some years.

In truth there should be more than one classification, for example, one for new technology, one for market appeal/style, one for the budget price etc.

Yes, I know you are Flecc.......and all bikes do have their place for one thing or another.....which is why this poll has to be one of personal choice unhindered by others making jibes about other peoples choices.....
You are right......maybe there should be different classifications then perhaps we could then all be satisfied and relax with some nice festive spirit (s).....hic.....:D
