Just been out again for my early morning ride...I'm trying to put an hour or so in each day before I start work, for the exercise, and to gain more experience of riding electric..actually I'm finding it hard to stay off the thing! It was surprisingly chilly this morning despite the early morning sun..I was glad of my fleece top and lined trousers but wished I'd worn gloves..

As I gain more riding experience I've started to change how I use the bike..

Initially I would only use pedal assist and didn't like using throttle at all as I found it slower.. but now I'm finding throttle is often better in some riding conditions as it gives you more control to slow down or stop power when you need to quickly.. and also when I'm pedalling unpowered but need a sudden burst of speed to get past waiting oncoming traffic etc, throttle comes in handy.

When I'm on a busy road with lots of traffic I much prefer using pedal assist at the highest level and in highest gear, which gives me maximum speed and smooth steady cruising without needing to hold throttle. It also seems kinder on the battery.

Does anyone else have any preference for riding a certain way?

As fast as possible by whatever means. :)
As the mornings are a little chilly I start out with fingerless gloves and over gloves, when it warms up the over gloves come off and get stuck on my rack.

I have found this week that I also like the chilly morning rides, Im getting to work feeling refreshed & ready to go

in the slight heat on my return journey yesturday I felt sweaty after 4 miles of going up & down minor hills

although I have 3 levels of pedal assist & thorttle Im I stilly only using level 1 to assit on some flats & 2 combined with a higher gear to give me a little more speed, or to climb hills Im finding that my local road are still very uneven with mini pot holes all about, so Im not too inclined to go use throttle here.

Im not organised enough to get up and do an hours ride before work, however, Im looking forward to the clock change on the weekend so I can do some chilly early evening e-bike experience building

Throttle only - Don't really like the pedal assit. So much so I removed it.

This is becasue if gives me the option when commuting to work and back to hold the throttle on the flat to give my legs a small rest before continuing.

Also gives me slow speed through built up area's and high pedestrain traffic.
As well as freewheeling down hills.

I just use an outdoor Northface Jacket thats lightweight with Oakley MTB lightweight gloves and Specialized helmet.
Still get warm and have to open the jacket and get a wash when i'm at work but I'm doing the 9 mile round trip at an average of 15mph so I do press on.
I'm sure i'll get faster though.

I always wear gloves, because in the event of a crash you always tend to scrape your hands. Also, nettles feature prominently on my local trails in summer and even light gloves keep them at bay.

Hehe shorts and gloves, a sign of our strange weather! You're right, the sunny weather never lasts more than a few days does it.. ah well, enjoy it while it lasts, another glorious day tomorrow and one on Sunday possibly..
