Just received a new battery for my ebike. Its a 17ah as opposed to my 10ah. Whats the best way to keep it nice lol. I fully charged it when i got it but how do i charge it then after? On my 10ah i just charged it when it went a below a certain bar on my bike.
Is that the best way?
Appreciate all your comments and ideas
The bars on the display aren't very accurate , all they indicate are very rough % levels determined by voltage seen. So typically 4 bars 100 - 25%, it will be still the same for a larger ah battery. The best type of fuel gauage is a watt meter or a voltage display read out.
If there is any benefit to running to empty, it is only in calibration of whatever energy measuring hardware there might be. Which in a generic battery is none, and I think also none in a generic lcd, because they only go on voltage.
Top of charge is where balancing is done. Bottom does nothing else useful.
Have a read of this article from the batteryuniversity.com website HERE which suggests that you'll get far more full charge/discharge cycles from your battery the less you discharge it before re-charging again.

Ive had my battery about 3 years, charge full after every use and just use it without bothering about it after that.
Never bother with all the nonsense of 80% max charge or any low charge advise either.
Too many folks worry about molly cuddling their battery , instead of just 'use it and enjoy it'. Not seen any noticeable deterioration in my battery life in my 3 years of use.
