Hello there, i'm trying to put together the q85 kit from bms battery together. I'm not really sure how to connect the Male prong connector to the Controller. does anybody have a pic of how to connect these two? the contrller is KU63 250W 6MOSFETS HIGH SPEED CONTROLLER. Prong Male Connector - BMSBATTERY. this is the male prong which connects to the Battery. Thanks.

If that is the main power cable to your battery then you can always change it to a different connector.
What battery do you have?

What you need to do is cut the connector off the controller and then get hold of a pair of Deans ot similar connectors. If they're Deans, solder the male one to the thick black and red wires. Then you need some reasonably heavy duty wire for the battery. You can get 30amp wire from Maplins. You then solder the 30 amp wires to the female connector one end and fix the other ends to the terminals in that black kettle connector, making sure that they are the correct way round. Mine had to go the opposite of the plug markings. It's a good idea to solder them after twizzling them round the screws. That's it. I did exactly that last weekend to con next the same battery to my Cyclamatic. If you can't solder, or don't have someone nearby, I'll do it for you, but you'd have to send me the controller and black connector by post. Also, I've got loads of Deans, so if you need some, I'll send you some. just send me a personal message with your address.

One other thing. You'll now have a spare thin red (or orange) wire from when you cut off the controller connector. It needs to be connected to a 36v +ve. There's a switch on the throttle, so figure out which two wires go to the switch and solder one to the thin red wire and the other to the 36v +ve and then you can switch the controller on/off at the throttle.
If you have any problems figuring out the 6 throttle wires, post again and I'll tell you what's what. I can't do it now because I need to look at my bike.

One more thing. When you connect connectors, check that you have matching colours on each side. They often put the wrong pins in the wrong slots on the throttle, pedal sensor and hall sensor connectors.

First of all a word of caution, I would not proceed to wire this yourself unless you are confident you have the ability to do it, shorting the battery leads by making a mistake could cause severe burns even if the fuse gets blown.
Anyway, first you need to carefully meter and identify the pins on battery (female connector) to establish where the positive (red lead on the controller) and negative (black lead on the controller) will have to be connected.
You will need to accquire some 3 way mains cable ( work out how long it needs to be) and the mating half of the controller connector I think they sell them in Maplins.
Take the controller with you and ask them to match the connector, if you ask nicely they may even crimp the cable for you and fit the male connector on the other end if you tell them what pins need to be negative and positive from you battery metering.

Thank you guys, i wish i could send it to you.. I leave here in new york.. i'm sorry i should have specified that from the get go.. this is all confusing to me. i'll take your words and have a local electrician do that for me. the thing that gets me the 30 amp wires for the female connector like you said. after cutting the wires from the controller and soldering them to the male prong, shouldn't that be all? then the male prong with thte wires would be connected to the Battery? i'm sorry i'm just trying to understand. Thanks a million take care.

Basically yes you are right but do get them around the right way.
Good luck, I hope your electrician can sort it out for you.

You don't connect any wire to the middle pin of the big black connector that plugs into the battery.
Here's a picture of Deans connectors. You can get them from any shop that does radio controlled models.

Just a note of caution - look closely at d8veh's assembly pictures and make sure you put the female deans connector on the wires from the big black connector, exactly as shown.
If you reverse them you will have live male pins exposed, not good.

Good luck and be careful.

The key has three positions: 1 Unlock (you have to push it in); 2 Lock (not pushed in) 3 On (not pushed in)

The charger does that when the battery is fully charged. Mine was fully charged when it arrived as well.
