The first ever tyre specifically for electric bikes was made by Maxxis in China and fitted on many Giant Lafree e-bike models from 2001 onwards.

They still make a variety of e-bike tyres but no-one in the UK seems to stock them. They are available from some suppliers through ebay though, here's a sample link.
