Hi guys,
I have a commute of 11 miles each way and at 2 spots I have a gradient of 6% which I managed to cycle normally at 12mph when climbing and between 21-24mph on flats. My idea is for middle of winder and rainy/windy days to get the ebike out. My problem is the lack of assistance after 15mph which I think would not work for me. I want to have days I don't sweat much or need to dress better where I can still cycle at my usual pace and be able to have assistance up to 25mph. I've been looking at magic pie 5 kit but it seems a bit heavy and the direct drive as many people say could be a problem when climbing. Is it that bad actually when climbing or this si due to people buying an ebike kit and not expect to peddle at all while the motor does all the hard work?
I was inclined to get a woosh ebike http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?karoo, but 250w seems like not much considering what I would be paying. If there was a way to get that limit increased a bit that would help, but I'm not sure if there is any way to modify that model?
The alternative I've found is a magic pie 5 and a big battery which I'm considering to purchase from these guys https://ebikebatteries.co.uk/
I weight about 75kg by the way if that helps.
Any thoughts, alternatives?
