hi all have kudos vita uno 36v ,rear hub moter 10.4ah bat low, med, high pas
tdz cd drive 250w 10.4 ah ts eco, tour, sport, turbo pas controller in moter
last year spoke to a couple of people 350 watt baffang/48v batt 500w 17ah 48v ebikes
both said bikes go up 2 different steep local hills with ease, one bike can go well over 15.5
but in both cases range was poor 20 miles or so

I often see on pedelecs you can fit 48volt battery instead of 36v but have no real idea what the change would make.
if I simply swopped my 10.4 36v for 10.4 48v battery if such a size exists what would I get?
more torque for hills, a turbo plus type mode? and would range alter with 48v
on the other hand if one fitted a 48volt kit lots of different wattage ones on ebay but used a 36v battery would kit still work but at reduced power?

or are the controllers in my 36v bikes simply not compatable

thanks all

You don't make it clear what you want to change. I can't figure it out. You say hub motor and CD? One, if so which, or both?

I think you can forget the TDZ at 48v as it is probably the same as the BBS and it won't recognise the voltage and the controller will smoke, like the BBS there are different voltage models.
Over volting a Chinese controller will often work the worst that will happen is you smoke the controller if the capacitors aren't 50v rated but most tend to be, worst case scenario is a new controller. 48v battery will effectively increase speed by up to 25% and torque will be better. Ah wise you can use any 48v battery.

There's no point in running a crank-drive at higher voltage unless you don't pedal because it'll spin the crank 33% faster. Can you pedal that fast?

Your Kudos will go pretty well at 48v, but you need a 48v controller and display too. It'll go 33% faster and climb 33% steeper.

thanks nealh and d8veh
as regards the kudos the rear wheel 26" 8fun moter the bearings are worn out and I can see no way of repairing it.
is there a cheapo kit new 7 speed moter wheel 48v controller and display I could fit to kudos.
I am limited to about 10.4 ah by the frame triangle being small
there is no manufactures markings on the existing kudos controller.
can you run a 48v controller with 36v battery as a tempory measure

What makes you think that the bearings are worn out? That would be pretty rare.

local lbs spotted it when replacing a couple of spokes
Do they know about these things? Could you see anything yourself? even if the bearing was worn, they're normally easy to fix. If you want to have a go at fixing it, post some pictures of the motor viewed at about 45 deg, so we can see the side behind the gears.
